Initiation Rite

Choose a place in which to do Dugiion, that is, worship in your home. A good surface as an Uentâ, or place of offering/sacrifice. This place will be the focal point of your Tegobessus (House Custom).

  • Materials Needed
    • Juniper ( Used to clear unwanted energies in our space)
    • Mugwort (Used to help facilitate a connection to the sacred)
    • Bowl
    • Candle
    • Libation
    • Offerings (You decide)

Cleansing

Wash hands and say: Glanolamâs “Clean hands”
Swipe your forehead and say:  Glanobritus “Clean mind”
Swipe down the face with both hands and say: Glananation “Clean soul” (This is based on the idea of the soul residing in the head.)

Establishing a Sacred Space

Light your Juniper stand in the center, and say:

“Lady of the Borders, Guardian of the Sacred, The Great Keeper
You give sacredness to the offering space, and you protect against bad spirits.”

Now take your Mugwort, light it, (you can place the Juniper on the altar or hold it in the opposite hand then the mugwort) and walk around your area or make a motion around your area in a sunwise circle three times to represent the three realms of Drus (Albios, Bitus, and Dubnos). As you do this, say the below invocation.

“Nemetona, I call to you to help establish my sacred space.”
“With this smoke from your sacred Juniper, I remove all that is unwanted”
“Separate the Pronae from the Sacred”
“Make this place sacred so that I can welcome Aidona and honnor the Deuoi and ancestors.”
“Be gone, Be gone, Be removed”

Welcoming Aidonâ

Aidonâ is the name we give to the spirit of the fire; basically, the hearth personified. Light your candle.

“Aidonâ you are the great fire since the beginning of time illuminating and warming our lives and homes”
“As I step before the Toutâdêuoi and Toutâregenioi, I kindle your flame not only in my hearth, but in my heart as well”
“Aidonâ, please accept this offering, and thank you for lighting this sacred place”

Pledge

When embarking on a journey in BNG, it is essential to begin by introducing oneself to the Deuoi during the initial act of devotion. Similar to meeting a stranger who might eventually become a close friend or acquaintance, acknowledging the first interaction with the Deuoi is a respectful and customary practice.

After you say each pledge, pour a small amount of your libation into the bowl.

“As Ambactos Rotî, Ambassador of the Wheel, I follow the teachings of the Wheel of Îanoi and dedicate myself to a life guided by these virtues. Our virtues transcend mere words; they are actions to be faithfully followed.”

“In piety, I humbly embrace the divine’s presence,
With duty, I solemnly uphold the call’s essence.

In right speech, I vow to honor truth in every place.”

“With compassion, I dedicate my heart to all,
In hospitality, I pledge kindness’s beckoning call.
I commit to sharing blessings far and wide,
In truth’s light, I promise to confide.”

“With honor, I solemnly uphold integrity’s might,
In justice, I vow to walk the path that’s right.
With bravery, I face life’s trials with unwavering strength,
In virtue’s name, I’ll go to any length.”

Closing

“Nemetona, I thank you for establishing my nemeton and helping me to connect to your domain”
“Aidonâ. I thank you for your warmth and for brightening this sacred space”

“Albios above us, Bitus around us, and Dumnos below us,
I now leave this sacred center
Thanks to you
I praise you all
I go in peace”

Gently put out the flame

Congratulations, you are now a Toution
